JoAnn's was having a sale on Kona Solids, and I found some I couldn't resist. I dearly love cool colors, and liked these so well they had to come home with me:

I of course wanted to play with them right away, so I grabbed a quilting book and looked for a simple yet interesting design made with strip piecing, the technique I am most comfortable with. I used 2.5" strips of each of the four colors, and cut the result into 7.5" squares.

I then cut them diagonally, rotated and sewed them back together into squares. I quilted together three layers of batting:

added the squares:

quilted them up, and we now have three new potholders! Or we would, if I would ever get the binding sewn on. Oh, well.
